Informal Economy Development Forum Launches Women’s’ League to Empower and Support Women in the Informal economy.

The Informal Economy Development Forum (IEDF) proudly announces the launch of its Women’s League, dedicated to empowering, supporting, and developing women who are the driving force of the informal economy. With a mission to nurture women and bolster their roles through social and economic initiatives, the Women’s League aims to provide comprehensive training, support and development opportunities for women entrepreneurs and workers.

The informal economy constitutes a significant portion of our global economic landscape, with women playing pivotal roles as entrepreneurs and leaders within their communities. Recognising the immense potential and contributions of women in this economy, the IEDF is committed to equipping them with the necessary tools and support to thrive in their businesses and beyond.

The Women’s League will offer a range of programs and resources tailored to the specific needs of women entrepreneurs. Through targeted training and development in business management, financial literacy, access to funding, procurement opportunities and leadership skills, participants will gain the expertise and confidence needed to excel in their endeavors.

Moreover, the Women’s League will serve as a platform for networking, mentorship, and peer support, fostering a strong sense of community among women in the informal economy. By connecting women with established leaders and resources, the League aims to create a supportive environment where women can learn from each other and collaborate for mutual growth and success.

“We believe that by empowering women in the informal economy, we can unlock tremendous economic potential and drive sustainable development in communities around the world,” said Suzan Ntebo Mthembu, Chairperson IEDF Women’s league. “Through the Women’s League, we are committed to providing women with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive as entrepreneurs and leaders.”

The launch of the Women’s League represents a significant milestone in the IEDF’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive economic development and gender equality. By investing in women and recognising their vital role in the informal economy, the IEDF aims to create a more equitable and prosperous future for all.
